~*~^~*~       O Bhavani! How can I speak of Thy beauty,   Which was never described by any Scripture,   Which can be seen and enjoyed only by Lord Siva,   Which is manifested to the sages in their hearts   After performing penance for thousands of years!   O Youthful daughter of the Lord of the mountains   Beautiful is Thy sweet smiling face, like a fresh lotus   And Thy wide eyes with collyrium on their lashes.   Beautiful, too, are the saffron on Thy forehead,   The necklet of pearls on Thy throat, Thy silken garment   And the glittering gold waist-ornament on Thy large hips!   O Goddess Parvati, the beloved of Lord Siva,   On the slope of whose round breasts rests a beautiful   Garland of Mandara flowers, whose lotus eyes sparkle   Whose earrings make the pleasing sounds of a lutes   Who slightly stoops from the weight of her breasts   Whose beautiful swaying gait is that of a royal swan,   May Thou be ever auspicious to us!   ~*~   O Bhavani, bestow fullness of happiness on us,   Thou whose limbs are shining with gold ornaments   And the gems glittering like the newly rising Sun,   Whose eyes are beautiful as those of a doe, of whom   Shiva is a part, beauteous in yellow garments,Thou   Whose colour is the golden lightning Shine forth!   ~*~   Her beautiful hands are like tender red leaves   She is adorned with lovely flowers and pearls   Her head, by its weight of braided hair,   Seems covered by a swarm of bees.   It is She with whom lord Shiva takes shelter,   Whose words are sweet, who destroys all ills,   Who is all pervading in all places of the Space,   The tender creeper of Intelligence and Bliss   The Goddess may shower Her blessings on us!   ~*~   O Aparna, Thou art the Mother of Vedas,   Thou art the Word and regulator of eternal truth   Thou art the root of all creation, whose lotus feet   Are worshiped by the Creator and all other gods.   O Mother! Thou art the prime cause of all desires.   Thou art the seed of liberation for the good   And Thou art the Spouse of the Supreme Lord.   O Virtuous One, from the corner of Thine eyes   Cast a glance of kindness upon me now!   O Bhavani, as the Lotus-Born Creator said:   The rule is that if others than Thyself are worshiped   Only the particular fruit desired by devotees is gained   But Thou giveth more even than is asked for, hence   Make me ever attached to Thy lotus feet, O Goddess!   ~*~   O Divine Mother, O Spouse of Great God !   Most pleasant is Thy abode in Mount Kailasa,   The walls where of glitter with various gems   And crystals whereon Thy image is reflected!   On the summit of Thy abode the quivering   Light waves of the lustrous moon are shed;   Wherein the Creator Brahma, Vishnu, Indra   And all other Gods dwell, be ever victorious!   Thy dwelling is on the crest of Mount Kailasa   Thy worshipers are Brahma, Indra, and others,   All are subservient to Thee in the three worlds.   All divine and cosmic Energies join their palms   In Thy presence and Thy lover is the Lord of all;   Therefore, O Daughter of the Lord of mountains   Nothing is equal to Thy fortune!   ~*~   Shiva, the Lord of beings, besmeared with ashes,   Sits in the cremation ground, from whose nature   Arises the force which can destroy the Universe   Yet, out of His compassion for the whole universe,   He drank fierce poison and stopped it in his throat,   There I see the fruit of His companionship with Thee,   And when Goddess Ganga seen Thy great beauty,   She was afraid and turned into a Heavenly River;   Then Shiva, seeing her sad lotus-like face, with mercy   Made a dwelling place for Her on His head, the Sky!   The Creator having with his own hands taken   Thy bathing water mingled with liquid sandal, musk,   Saffron, and flowers, and the dust of Thy moving feet,   Created therewith lotus-eyed women of the Heaven.   If one but contemplates Thee, O Mother Bhavani,   In play with Thy maidens, in a pleasant spring-tide   With flowers and creepers upon the lake,   Beautiful with many a blossoming lotus   And flocks of white swans, the waters   Of which are rippled by the fragrant breezes,   From such a person all fevered ills of the world pass away!   May Bhavani, the Mother the Universe grant us divine Bliss!     ~*~^~*~   Dt.09.02.2010.   Dt.4.9.2012.THE WAVES OF BLISS (Revised) * This is based on a Sanskrit poem   "Ananda Lahari" written by Sage Poet   Sri Adi Sankaracharya of 7th Century.   -venkat   © *2010*   Copy Right @ viswabrahma
