Words and Verse

Love in Tongues

Each tongue is filled with words describing love
The Romans' "se negare est amare(1)"
Won't fly. Love can fulfill, as it did Jove.
Rome's sons (Italians!) say "non posso l'fare(2)"
Now not too far away, in Spain, they'll sigh
"Quien bien te quiere, te hará llorar(3)"
Are not the false loves they who'll make you cry?
They call these Romance languages? they are
Rome-ance, like Rome, and so they fail no less.
But lets begone with Romance... Celtic Wales
With "heb wraig, heb ymryson(4)" also fails.
Why make such farce of that true tenderness?
If you deny yourself or weep a fleuve(5)
All in its name, then it's just not true love.

(1) To love is to deny oneself
(2) I can't do it
(3) Who truly loves you shall cause you to cry
(4) Without a woman one is without strife
(5) River
