CHANGE OF SEASON

CHANGE OF SEASON

The last days of summer try to linger on
But try as they may it will soon be gone,
With it goes our light nights much to our dismay
Children won`t go to bed they just want to play.

Our warm summer evenings soon turn cold
No more garden barbeques it`s far too cold
Summer arrived late it has to be said
But soon winter will put summer to bed.

Soon the cold winds will have an icy touch
And none of the trees will escape their clutch,
The leaves will wither and turn a russet brown
As the life drains from them they`ll all fall down.

They make a thick blanket on the floor below
All pretty colours brown, red and yellow,
The wind blows and tosses them into the air
These colourful leaves have left the trees bare.

The unforgiving wind relentlessly blows
In winter it`s only the odd thing that grows,
The trees will come good when spring does arrive
The shoots will sprout as they always survive.

For now, the season is changing once again
And it won`t do us any good to complain,
For this is nature at the end of the day
I`m sure we wouldn`t have it any other way.
