A Prayer
I just sat down and cried,
As I mourned many days;
How I cheated and lied,
Within so many ways.
I continued to fast,
And pray to Heaven;
That grace from God is cast,
As confession is given.
God of Heaven and Lord,
Awe-inspiring and great;
Is beloved and adored,
Defend me from my fate.
You have kept your word,
For mercy who give love;
Doing as they have heard,
Within their heart thereof.
Open my eyes to see,
Along with ears to hear;
Your Word so I may be,
Your son so I revere.
I pray both day and night,
Confessing all my sin;
Until vanished from sight
That corrupted within.
I did You a great wrong,
Not obeying Your Laws;
Let not torture prolong,
Where I developed flaws.
Please listen to my prayer,
For my success today;
I am eager to share,
As I trust and obey.
