Have you ever been someone`s whipping post
When they`re being distraught is at its upmost,
You`re there so you take the brunt of it all
You listen to them when they shout and bawl.
Everything is your fault whether or not
You get it all because you`re within earshot,
They rant and rave to get it off their chest
You leave them to it as you know best.
They don`t seem to be able to think straight
But you just have to patiently wait,
Sooner or later the outburst will subside
And sanity will once again reside.
They feel that everything is against them
But their outbursts can cause mayhem,
You`re only there to listen and console
But they use you as their whipping pole.
But if it helps then there`s no harm done
You`re there for them `til their pain is gone,
You`ll soothe them and help them understand
That things don`t always go as planned.
