Scatter My Petals Across Heaven©

Some are often regarded as
delicate flowers
not ready to face the world.
But those in full bloom are
a force to be reckoned with.
Often plucked from
the safety of earth,
or stomped on
by thieves of beauty.
Some still find
a way to live to grow.
I am not one of those.
For that which
i have stemmed
and been nourished by
has left me withered away.
The others grow around me
and blossom in spite of it all.
I have spite but i haven't
the nutrients to survive.
I call them
Steel Magnolias
for they are strong
and rise up against defeat.
I don't thrive on defeat
but i can't blossom
when i'm drowning
in a garden of misery.
Now i fall apart
in the shadows
of the happy garden in which
i once grew.
I'm a Silk Magnolia
and the slightest snag
will rip me to shreds.
And i'll just blow away
never to be seen whole again!
