I watched Celtic's greatest player today, his memories on TV
I was on my own with Jinky, my hero was here with me
From a great big smile of cheers to fears, I was with him on his way
The good times in his life at Celtic Park to the day he went away
Nine in a row with more to show, why did he have to go
He's a hero in the sky above; I just want my friend to know
I watched him play as they shout Olay when he wore the green and white
A hundred thousand Celtic fans with many more in sight
Jinky showed the way each day as he fought proudly to the end
He showed us the way, the Celtic way, our Celtic supporters friend
You're still with us close at Celtic Park; I can feel your presence near
We love you Jimmy Johnstone, you are our friend so dear
