My grace is sufficient for you.
2 Corinthians 12:9

A little while back when I last sang “I Am A New Creation” by Dave Bilborough
One line really stood out for me:

‘Here in the grace of God I stand’

It’s a line that brings release, ease, the dissolving of concerns and the lifting of burdens.

When we try to stand in our own strength, we can wonder to ourselves:

I wonder if I’ll do 'that' ok today,

Why did I lose my patience today?

I didn’t do that as well as I could have done today?

I shouldn’t have done it that way,

Oh no, I forgot to bring that today,

Oh! I bet they think I meant ‘that’ today – that’s not what I meant,

Oh! I really spent too much time doing that,

Oh no!  I should have spent more time doing that....

And the answer to all of that is:

Here in the grace of God I stand.

We get things wrong.  He’s perfect.  We get things wrong.  His Son lived among us, died, rose again and ascended back to Heaven and His grace covers our wrongs and keeps us.

Here in the grace of Good I stand.

There is therefore no condemnation.

Christ came and whipped condemnation away from under our noses and off of our backs.  We only need to accept it.

How do we accept it?

Here in the grace of God I stand.

An admission that we realise it’s not working standing in our own strength and so we surrender to His all sufficient grace.

A position of rest.

A position of power and might and great works from Him.

Here in the grace of God I stand.

Here’s the rest of the song.

I am a new creation
No more in condemnation,
Here in the grace of God I stand.
My heart is overflowing,
My love just keeps on growing,
Here in the grace of God I stand

And I will praise You Lord,
Yes, I will praise You Lord,
And I will sing of all that You have done.

A joy that knows no limit,
A lightness in my spirit
Here in the grace of God I stand  ( I Am A New Creation by Dave Bilborough)
