THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC

THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC

Around the cauldron they stood
One had a long stick in her bony fingers
The others nose stuck out from her hood

A pinch of hair of toad - a scoop of minced rat
Spit from a white owl - powered wings of a bat
One claw from their old black cat

Speaking in syllables that was a blur
Round and round the stew they did stir
While the black cat gave them a purr

Out of the kettle came a song
"That old black magic
has got me in it's spell"

One of the old witches grinned at the other
broke the long stick
and gave it a kick

"A new kind of life I will pick
I am tired of that magic trick
Of this life style I am sick"

In the blink of an eye
to the old life they said good-bye
Now they are bakers of pies
