...... put no confidence in the flesh...
Philippians 3:3

Paul speaks of a position of no confidence and invites us to take the same position.
To add weight to this, he clarifies the position he came from:

If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; 6as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless.
Philippians 3: 4-6

Although Paul has all of these attributes and credibility, in looking at them with respect to eternal value, he chooses to dismiss them for the One who is of infinite value.

Sounds like a big sacrifice, but in Romans 12:1, he says that the sacrifice to God is reasonable.  It’s not a big deal in view of the huge sacrifice He made for us.  He continues saying:

7But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.
Philippians 3: 7-9

We are to re-deposit our confidence into the place of infinite value.  We are to place all of our confidence there.  It is the place that is trustworthy and never waivers.

God has offered it as a gift because He is Love.
