When Little Doug Comes Home

Sun and autumn leaves. Pictures, Images and Photos
This is not a poem. It is simply a few words and thoughts
about my one and only brother. It seems as though the time he spent with us
was brief. My family, relatives, and friends will celebrate his memorial on October 18, 2012. His memory lives on in our hearts.

When Little Doug comes home

When Little Doug comes home was the line shared so often

by my mother, my two sisters, and I.

This line was shared for the longest time.

I am writing about the sudden passing

of my one and only brother.

We affectionately called him Little Doug.

He departed this life on October 18, 2006.

Douglas Jr. was named after my father.

He enlisted in the Armed Forces and left home.

Years later he was honorably discharged from the Air Force.

He resided in Redwood City, California.

He would visit the family during vacations.

Several years ago my father passed away.

It was my mother's hope that my brother

would one day return home.

We were always reminded of the line, when Little Doug comes home.

My family and I know that one day we will all be reunited.

Little Doug will finally come home.
