The Tree of Life

The Tree of Life                  June 21, 1985

This old oak tree of many years, with roots so great and strong
This tree so old, this king of plants, this seed of many years
With structure and shape, this land it claims, Mother Nature can't be wrong
For years the trees in the forest great, like family they did grow
Cruel winter it did fight them, those years so long ago
With the snow and rain and winter pain, in the forest the roots grew strong
Those cruel months, those months so cold, those months no feelings had
This old oak tree of many years, with roots so great and strong
This tree so old, this king of plants, this seed of many years
Winters past, spring times here, for this tree of many fears
The roots grow strong, the trunk it spawns branches young and free
They claim this land, this land of theirs, this land of many years
The roots embrace the land so deep, the juice of life does seep
This is my land, with the king of plants in peace
