 More Work Hours
Soon after I wrote my poem Work Training
God's plan for more hours began unfolding
Events end of last week a clear opportunity
For discussion of schedule change possibility

Last Thursday email reply sent after I left Tuesday
Head supervisor had approved my idea prior Friday
When could I start on Wednesdays to learn balancing
I wrote her back my plans changed after new training

While I appreciated her consideration in every way
I would rather focus on new training if that was okay
Learning both would be too much at once to take in
Still willing to learn balancing but at a later date then

I mentioned talking to her about 6-8 hours more a week
Work later in the afternoon to help in Puerto Rico bank
Last Friday her email reply was simply stated as okay
I sense she was probably disappointed along the way

Last Friday was special with company catered lunch
Recognizing all employees and temps meant so much
Brief speech beforehand by gentleman in management
Positive changes happening definitely an encouragement

Last Friday when I checked home voice mail on my break
Led to an opportunity to ask if I could work an hour late
Third time rescheduled to sign papers there for temp agency
Relieved when another temp said forms were just a formality

Head supervisor gave me permission for extra hour right away
Then I asked about possibility of changing my schedule everyday
Start following week to work 8 hours over 4 days or 32 hours total
Her tone of voice saying "Is that all?" indicated reluctant approval

Earlier that day she had distributed an updated work schedule
Listing hours and days off with responsibility each shift overall
She has stated overtime would only be allowed as it was needed
However, extra hours would become available as we were trained

Lord, thank You for giving me strength to adapt this week each day
When supervisor in charge of Puerto Rico commented to me Thursday
Noticing my longer hours that I was staying and doing an "all dayer"
You gave me courage to explain my new schedule and goals to her

She made me feel welcome saying they needed all help they can get
Keying is hard part for that bank but she said balancing is easier yet
Her words of encouragement gave me a sense of hope and confidence
I am sure she will report to head supervisor positive work flow changes
