It was after World War Two was over
And the fighting was all through.
That Dad saw a rainbow at midnight…
Like a symbol of his love for you.
You spoke of his courage, dear mother…
How honor and pride helped his faith
To carry him safely toward freedom
And the girl who’d promised to wait.
I’m proud to be fighting here, mother…
I’m honored to serve Uncle Sam…
For the same FLAG Dad fought for is flying
Over his son here in Viet Nam.
Each night as I kneel in this jungle
I offer my thanks to above.
I pray I’ll be seeing that rainbow…
The rainbow you so proudly spoke of.
God bless our home in the country…
The home once only a dream…
Inspired by a rainbow at midnight…
The rainbow that Daddy had seen.

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars:
see that ye be not troubled: for all these things
must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Zechariah 9:8
And I will encompass my house with them that serve me in war, going and returning,
and the oppressor shall no more pass through them:
for now I have seen with my eyes.
Genesis 9:13
I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be
for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
