The soul has much to say

A Carolina Thanksgiving...

Family
tradition
simmering
on the stove

Warm
household
decorated
with memories

Laughter
adds light
to a place
lit with love

Roll call
of my
favorite
addictions

Turkey
greens
stuffing
cranberries

olives
biscuits
3 cheese macaroni
to name a few

4 generations
of those
I call
Queen

hustle
about
in the
kitchen

My brothers
and I
carefully set
the table

Pop
prepares
to carve
perfection

Football's
on
I hardly
notice

Ma and her
headphones
Christmas music
no doubt

48 degree day
in God's country
North Carolina
is special

Soon
we gather
for my
favorite moment

Holding hands
as a family
Heads bowed
in reverence

God
has been
so good
to us

We
take turns
praying for
loved ones

who
couldn't
be here
and for those

who've
crossed
our paths
over the years

My voice
of intercession
begins in
silence

Slowly
I pour forth
words of hope
and praise

As we
say "Amen"
I realize
my blessing

of simply...belonging
