We’ve all read or heard the story
About the prodigal son…
How he blew all his inheritance
Then ran home unkempt, undone.
We rejoiced to see his father
Welcome him back to the fold
Were a bit miffed at his brother
Who behaved contemptuous and cold.
Could it be that we are prejudiced
Against the eldest son?
We don’t approve of things he said…
We resent this thing he’s done.
Even though his bad behavior
May be easy to despise.
We must view this entire picture
Through Our Heavenly Father’s eyes.
For, you see, he was a GOOD SON
Who served his father well...
That he’s seen as a BAD BROTHER…
Is the fact we can’t dispel.
But, are we like him in some ways,
When it comes to brotherhood?
God has sheep in other pastures
Some of us don’t treat too good.
For, you see, even if we aren’t…
God is a Methodist…
And He’s a Catholic and a Baptist…
I could go on down the list.
Separated by our differences,
We tend to speculate
That God will make a difference
Because we think we really rate.
O, how foolish is our reasoning!!
Denominations build a wall…
But Jesus died for every man.
Can’t we see God loves us all???
The father of the prodigal
Loved both his sons the same.
And, thus, it is with Father God
To ALL who call upon His name.
So I ask…and I ask kindly…
As God has asked of me…
What kind of brother are you?
And what kind should you be??

Galatians 5:22-25
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's
have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live
in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
1 John 4:7-8
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God;
and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
