My Name Is Bethlehem

 Allow me to introduce myself…
My name is Bethlehem.
Yes, I do realize you’ve never
 Once entertained this realm.

Could be you think a talking town
Reeks of the twilight zone?
O, please let me assure you
God has seen that I am known.

I really can’t compare myself
To jostling Jerusalem…
But I get my share of visitors
And it’s all because of Him!

You see, He was born right here
In that stable up the street.
They’ve turned it into a church
And I must say it’s really neat !

I never will forget the night
They entered my domain.
The guy Joseph led that donkey
Up and down and then again.

Searching for a place where she
Could give birth to the child.
I was sorely overcrowded…
The atmosphere was a mite wild.

 A taxpayer’s nest of hornets…
Resentment for the Roman rule
Had them feuding with each other…
Everyone acting the fool.

It was an act of desperation
That led Joseph to the gate
Of the simple backstreet stable…
But those babies just won’t wait!

Not a notable environment
For a King to make a show…
But today it’s known as Holy,
A place where all believers go.

Like to view the spot where Jesus
Inhaled His first breath of air?
Hello…my name is Bethlehem…
I’d like to welcome you all  there.

~~Dedicated to Janie~~

Micah 5:2
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, [though] thou be
little among the thousands of Judah, [yet]
out of thee shall he come forth unto me
[that is]
 to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth { have been}
from old, from everlasting

Matthew 2:6
And you Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
are not the least among the princes of Judah:
for out of you shall come a Governor...

John 7:42
Has not the scripture said, That Christ comes
of the seed of David, and out of the town
 of Bethlehem, where David was?
