My former supervisor sent me an email
Seeking part time help if I was available
I explained my only day off is Wednesday
Also I could come in a few hours Saturday
I would be assisting with inventory in December
But when I started last week she extended the offer
As long as they have sufficient work for me to do
They would consider having me into next year too
Some employees showed excitement I was coming back
She clearly said it was not permanent to set them on track
I realize they are still struggling to stay afloat financially
Economic downturns greatly affected construction industry
Last Wednesday when I signed paperwork again with HR
She noted same wages as when I left per former supervisor
I was speechless with about a third more than temp position
Take 12 hours now to equal 8 hours at previous compensation
When I asked to increase my scheduled work hours recently
God had a reason for me to stay off Wednesdays most certainly
Not only for my availability but also to provide financial needs
His ways and timing are always perfect far beyond ours indeed
My first day back included some delays and bugs along the way
Trouble resetting my log-in and computer issues later in the day
Two weeks of purchase orders to enter all but 7 orders finished
After 9 hours, former supervisor pleased with work accomplished
Computer problems began mid-afternoon with an error message
For certain items entered you had to exit and get back on the page
Repeat the process for each line affected sometimes 6 times or more
Before the order was completed which slowed you down for sure
Next week I will work 6 hours there on Wed. and Sat. Lord willing
Last night sinus pressure and headache after rest better Friday morning
Candle fragrance at work two late afternoons triggered allergic reaction
Both days stuffiness and harder to breathe added factors to my condition
Before I left Friday, I asked one of the supervisors to address the situation
Please send a memo advising others to show allergy sufferers consideration
I explained the symptoms I had from the candle with my voice very raspy
Hard for me to talk and I pray it will all be resolved peacefully and quickly
I talked with the head supervisor on Monday and she issued a memo. However,
her statement was very general and I sense many people interpreted it more as
an "advisory bulletin" to be considerate of others. I also believe anyone
involved will continue doing it, unless they are confronted with a complaint
that it is bothersome to someone. Tuesday, I did have a brief meeting with the
temps and full-time employees I directly work with and explained my health
condition. While my goal was certainly not to point any fingers, they confirmed
none of them have been using scented candles. They did give me some potential
leads, but I did not have the opportunity to talk with those people today or
follow-up by email.
Tuesday, I also went to my allergy doctor after work (the only night they
are open late). He prescribed an antibiotic for my sinus inflammation
and also a 5-day low dose steroid to help get my immune system back on
track. He said my sinus symptoms may be viral / illness related, rather
than allergy induced. He did recommend avoidance to future exposure of
the candle fragrance to prevent further attacks. But until I am able to
find the exact source or person(s)involved, it will continue to pose a
potential risk.
Wednesday will be an opportunity for extra income at my former employer and
also a welcome break in dealing with the trying situation at my temp job.
God has brought me too far, almost 7 months as of next week, to abandon His
plans for placing me there now. I know He will take care of me.
