The Little Lamb’s Encounter

I was right there in the stable
The night that He was born.
Joseph emptied out the feeding trough
That held my oats and corn.

He hurriedly filled it with hay…
Nice, clean hay I might add.
Now, it was surely not the best of beds,
But the only one they had.

I recall all the excitement
When we first spied that Star!
I guess Nanny Goat noticed its trail…
She could see it from afar.

Her son Billy really bellowed
When it rested on our barn.
We sensed something supernatural
And then we heard that horn!

Like a Heavenly announcement!
Then it wasn’t very long
Until we heard a different sound…
Voices rising up in song!

Next, suddenly the stable filled,
 As shepherds slowly filed
In, waiting for a turn to gaze
Upon the newborn child.

The baby boy was bathed
In a soft light from above.
And I am but a little lamb
But was bathed in this love.

I edged closer to the cradle…
What a shocker this did bring!
My two front legs bent backward!
I was bowing to a King!

But before I was shooed away…
Because an animal I am…
I heard this little baby’s thoughts,
“I, like you was born a Lamb!”

~~Dedicated to Sally and her Pooh~~

John 1: 29
The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him,
and said, Behold the Lamb of God, which takes
away the sin of the world.

Isaiah 53:7

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open
his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.

1 Peter 1:18-20
For as much as you know that you were not redeemed
with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain
 conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb
without blemish and without spot: Who truly
was foreordained before the foundation of the world,
but was manifest in these last times for you,
