THE  - FIRST - CHRISTMAS - DAY .

WRITTEN 10 : 12 : 12


There were no festive lights - on that first Christmas Day -
Only a mother - with her baby - asleep in the hay .
Exhausted - but happy - she looked at her son .
This treasure from Heaven - this - God -given One .
The pain and the pressure of birth - was now gone .
Replaced by the joy - now the Promise had come .

Yes - promised to Adam - one day there would be -
A Saviour - Messiah - His people to free - from the 
Tyranny of Satan - from death and from sin -
From hatred without - and diseases within .
An exchange would take place - a price would be paid -
As the sins of the world - on Him would be laid .

A Nation was chosen - and through them would come 
Judges and Prophets - Priests - leaders and kings -
Each one a herald - of the One - who would be 
Chosen to lead them - in full victory .
Yes - Royal and Valient - courageous and strong -
This Leader of leaders - was destined to come.

But - how could this Babe in a manger be Him 
With only poor shepherds - to witness the scene ?
Where was the fanfare - the feasts and the din -
To welcome the Deliverer - to His Kingly Throne ?
Such humble beginnings - Surely this could not be -
The One - that all Israel - was longing to see.

Oh the foolishness - and the vain thoughts of man -
That could never devise - so wondrous a plan - that
God - in His Glory - should visit this earth  - clothed
In frail fresh - at so lowly a birth .
But - God in His wisdom - knew  just what to do -
To deliver His Love-Gift -  for me - and for you .

Now each heart - that seeks Him - can freely receive
The best Gift at Christmas - the Father can give .
So - open your heart to Him - right away -and then 
He will be born in your spirit - today.

This is one of a few Christmas poems I shall  post 
here - but - as this one says - open your heart to Him
Today - and invite Him to take control of your life -
You have everything to gain - so don't waste time .
