No Choice to Make

No Choice to Make    October 13, 2012

I was given my life and freedom from my God alone
No discussion or direction, I was on my own
Was I one of us or one of them? A little child to young to know
At my mother's womb, that human tomb I was born free
To young to know about hateful things, just loving you and me
A child of God, just one or the other, a child who needed love
A gift from heaven my parents said, please give me all your love
Those days are gone in this troubled world, I've learned so many things
Children's dreams are precious, all good and never bad
The troubles of the world forced upon them, learning to hate, how sad
I've grown with the troubles with Irish thoughts to share, violence must cease
Those people that came to our land must live with us in peace
I was given life and my freedom from my God alone
No discussion or direction, I was on my own
