On a cold dreary wintry night in December
when all was still with snow upon the ground
A Shepherd boy searching for his lost lamb
far and wide was finally found...
~*~+~*~
A dogwood tree was his comfort
while waiting for his master Shepherd to show
Although it's branches were heavy laden with winter's new snow,
Sadness was strewn across its branches so wide it seemed to cry
At a future vision of baby Jesus, when he would come to die...
~*~+~*~
An angel appeared from the heavenly skies above
Announcing that he was to share in the blood of Jesus' love,
His fate destined as seed first planted in the ground
To be the cross holding God's Sacrificial Lamb
into forever bearing His Crown...
~*~+~*~
A mighty tree he would be, sparing life to carry a King to be
His arms would hold mankind's Saviour setting all sin free,
Thereafter, God decreed the seed of a dogwood to be
Never growing large enough to again become a cross of this tree...

As legend has it, the cross on which Jesus was crucified was made from a dogwood tree.
God decreed that the dogwood tree would from that day forth never grow large enough
to be used to make a cross.
Thus, the dogwood tree is a small tree.
~*~+~*~
The flower of the dogwood has four petals
which makes the shape of a cross.
The center of the flower resembles the crown of thorns with bright red,
clustered fruit in the center representing the blood of Christ .

The dogwood blooms in April when Easter Sunday marks the resurrection of Christ
after the Crucifixion

He Lives ! He Lives !
Christ Jesus Lives Today !
