Amid the Christmas caroling,
Cards and contents of such kind…
I was wide awake at 5 a.m.
With my sister on my mind.
She left a year ago today…
Unexpected…much too soon.
And memories keep bringing back
That same heartbreaking tune
To say I miss her would be mild…
But there’s no known definition
Strong enough to emphasize
The emptiness of my position.
There is such a void within me…
A void no one can replace.
I so long to hear her voice…
To gaze upon her lovely face.
But there remains a waiting period
Until that moment comes around.
So until the day we meet again…
My thoughts are Heaven bound.
