BORN TO RUN

BORN TO RUN

I remember as a child
How I had to run
Whether on a message
Or out for some fun.

It was like a freedom
It gave me a blast
I would fly like the wind
As my feet were fast.

I wouldn`t think about it
My legs would just run
It was like an adventure
Which had just begun.

I couldn`t stop running
Until I had arrived
It was always such a thrill
On which I thrived.

Older kids tried to beat me
But to no avail
I was faster than them
They would always fail.

Once the door was open
Then out I would go
Run to my heart`s content
I loved it you know.

When I was out with my Mum
Well she made me walk
My feet just wanted to go
When on the sidewalk.

When I was much older
And I started work
Not
 running for the bus
Would drive be berserk.

Running is in my blood
I was born to run
No matter what the weather
Rain wind or sun.

Now I have the grandkids
What a good excuse
I can play and run with them
And put my legs to use.
