There are times when it is least expected
A stranger will walk over and say thanks!
Thanking you for having served our country
It's rare when these things do take place
But the results of that very kind gesture
Gives me hope for our nation's own future
The fact that some actually understand it
That the freedom they now currently enjoy
Was bought & paid for with another's life
But unfortunately, there are still those
Whose self-centered views and opinions
Are passed on to their next generation
They are totally ignorant to the real truth
Making it so painfully clear they are morons
By making some cruel remarks out in public
Like a woman at the grocery store recently
While waiting our turn in the checkout line
Sitting there in my motorized shopping cart
Her little child had waved her hand at us
My wife and I waved back at this cute child
When suddenly her mom yelled loudly at her
Telling her child that I was a very bad man
That I had shot and killed innocent people
That I was one of those mean baby killers
I was totally taken back by her rantings
As were the other people standing in line
Thank God that my wife couldn't reach her
She must have learned this from her parents
And now this young mother was passing it on
Teaching her child these ignorant lessons
This isn't the first time this has happened
And it likely won't be the last time either
I was very angered by this ignorant moron
But at the same time, I felt sorry for her too
She had been brainwashed by her own parents
And now she was passing on her own ignorance

Sometimes you can't blame people for their own ignorance
in life, but for someone such as this mother to have been
taught these beliefs in her own life and make statements
loudly in public that were solely based on the fact that
I was wearing my hat that says Vietnam Veteran on it is
very wrong. And for her parents to have taught her such
prejudice in her own life is sad indeed in itself, but to
then brainwash your own child years later based on these
false teachings and ignorant lessons that were instilled
by her own ignorant parents is heart breaking as well as
it is infuriating. This poor innocent child had simply waved
at two people who had smiled at how cute she was and then
suddenly her own mother had turned it into a lesson
about hate and had taken that one piece of her childhood
innocence away from her little daughter and had replaced
it with her own ignorance learned from her own parents.
By doing this, she is teaching generational lessons about
ignorance that will be passed on from one generation to
the next while all along they are enjoying that freedom
that we had provided and protected to their families all
throughout our history here in America. Pray for them!!!
