A Place Called Home

It was the dreaded day
the clouds came rolling in

and I was transformed to
days of way back when,
I was born too soon
and she loved me so much!
She nursed me with her warmth
and gentle loving touch
Soon I began to grow
She called me chubby checker
I'm sure I was a handful!
But I belonged to her
She always had a house full
As
kids, we had such fun
So many cousins were we
But room for everyone!

As a teen,I found my way
back into her home
this is where I belonged
no more a need to roam
She was my confidant
I told her everything!
She let me rest my head
when life would come to sting
I miss her stories of delight
and laughter’s happy glee
talks we shared into the night
and morning cups of coffee
Those are the days I miss
when time rewinds for me
now she is just a memory
of time that never ceased!

Written for my dear Gramma,
She holds a place deep in my heart
That none but her can fill
