Empty Place

I can close my eyes to things I don't want to see,
But cannot close my heart to the things i don't want to feel,
Just by trying to carry on as normal,
Doesn't mean I don't accept it's real.

I can carry on walking holding my head high,
And keep on smiling to cover the cracks,
But when behind closed doors I begin to break,
And the weakness and tears come flooding back.

Tears can't wash the pain away
I know because I've cried,
I can't move on from this mess,
It's as though part of me has died.

I don't know who I am,
I miss being me,
Being sad and miserable,
Now comes so naturally.

For you've taken away my smile,
My happiness and pride,
You've left me with a dreary shadow,
That follows me like a cloud.

I wish these feelings would go away,
But it feels as if they're here to stay,
Forever down, miserable and sad,
Will my life always be this bad?
