Poetic-Verses

'' I Was Forced To Admit Defeat ''

I came across a spider,
She was standing in my way,
I knew I couldn't bide her,
How dare she cause me affray.

This tiny little imbecile,
Against the might of me,
I would make her run a mile,
She would beg me to set her free.

It gazed at me with glaring eyes,
Staring me in the face,
She knew she was nearing her demise,
It was time now for the chase.

As I ventured nearer,
My baseball bat in hand,
It was now becoming clearer,
Her tactics were underhand.

It moved to the right then the left,
But still I wasn't scared,
The little b.b.b.lighter was pretty deft,
But I'd soon have it snared.

At that I swung my baseball bat,
I aimed it at its head,
Smugly I thought, well that is that,
The enemy is now dead.

Bravery to me is nothing new,
I kill insects as a rule,
I give them all what they are due,
Some would say I'm cool.

Just then I felt terribly warm,
There was movement within my ear,
I didn't know what shape or form,
But it had rooted me with fear.

Fifteen stone of total strength,
Suddenly hit the deck,
A spider about an inch in length,
Had turned me into a wreck.

My size and strength no longer mattered,
I then bid a hasty retreat,
With my ego bruised and battered,
