An unwanted flower lay in the road
a reminder of friendships past.
Discarded and soon to be forgotten
it slowly withers towards its demise.
A rainbow bouquet of memories
its splendor held forever in the mind.
It fades a little more with each passing day.
Neglected and misunderstood it lived
to bring joy to those who beheld it as
an orchid rare and sweet to the eye.
How could such beauty last,
nourished only by teary eyed mists?
What foolishness exists to believe,
that without water a flower could last forever.
