'' Get A Life ''
Someone writes about playing with fire,
Suddenly she becomes a lady for hire,
Why should her verse cause such friction?
Regardless of whether it's fact or fiction.
Another writes poems about talking with God,
The critic then states that person's a fraud,
How would they know have they met the Good Lord?
For criticising others did he give them an award?
The majority of critics are all self taught,
Their subjective knowledge is next to naught,
So why are they listened to why do we care?
They wouldn't be missed if they weren't there.
They slag off movies, poems and books,
Their title should be literary crooks,
We were all gifted with what they call choice,
If we don't like what's there we can use our own voice.
In our own minds we can tell good from bad,
Giving critics credence is really quite sad,
So keep on writing do not be afraid,
If you believe in yourself you've got it made.
Constructive critique can help you to learn,
But nasty comments just cause you concern,
If you believe you are better go write your own,
Or is it just nasty comments to which you are prone.
To all those who see fit to criticise,
Look in the mirror and open your eyes,
Can you without guilt cast the first stone?
Have you done nothing for which you wish to atone?
In all of our writings we try to excel,
To all you critics we say, go rot in Hell,
If your aim in life is to cause others strife,
All I will say is,
' GET A LIFE '
