Was once our Love
  Was Once Our Love

A stunning brilliant happiness was once our love…
Those days when you delivered tulips to me in mason jars.
When I would watch for your return like a breathless dove…
Those days when we planted wishes in the stars.

I remember ridge walking with you high and far.
Gazing at early Venus as she danced above.
We trudged through thickets and briars.
A stunning brilliant happiness was once our love…

You elevated me to heights and joy unknownn…
You offered me your most chivalric Praise.
I melted when you said good morning, and I craved your touch…
Those days when you delivered tulips to me in mason jars.

I remember tandem riding with you down trails of firefly stars.
When I slept peacefully near you like a hand in a glove.
When I woke before sunrise just to sit with you for an hour.
When I would watch for your return like a breathless dove…

We worshiped the moon in those days, we watched her float above…
When we would lay in the grass and gaze at the constellations afar.
When we talked about magic and possibilities and ideas we thought of.
Those days when we planted wishes in the stars.

We have changed since those days we have drifted apart.
We've grown tired and complacent as we endure static hours.
Now in the winter of our love we must shelter our hearts...
We shall huddle close together, for warmth and support. . .
  was once our love.
