He touched my heart

Are we not the most fickle of beings?
Complaining when rain falls gently or hard,
Yet our children love nature's cheapest toy,
Jumping,splashing, in unbridled delight.

As one wishes for the rain to desist,
Plans are spoiled, a grey depression descends,
Yet others rejoice as prayers are answered,
Thirsting crops revived with refreshing rain.

Too much rain? Can clouds hold water to drown?
Flooded creeks allure with deadly deceipt,
Rushing, rushing; like a wild animal of prey,
Destroying those who venture too close.

Rivers rising with increasing impact,
Some will draw water for future store,
While others release the rising torrent,
Preventing a dam's iminent collapse.

Rain offers no 'One size fits all' promise,
Falling on rich and poor,religious or not.
As this drenching rain falls over my bed,
I am safe, I am dry, and still well fed.

We trust our God who dwells in heav'n above,
He provides wisdom and hope when we're glum,
He has protected us time and time again,
So we rejoice and praise his famous name.
