God sent a man named John,
To be His courier;
For the new age to dawn,
Was not a worrier.
He knew what must be done,
And to declare the truth;
God would soon send His Son,
Still being in His youth.
John looked for believers,
Coming through his message;
As to be receivers,
Of hope and courage.
For John was not the light,
Just the one to convey;
For us to what is right,
And to trust and obey.
The real light which does shine,
That was coming real soon;
Would be from the Divine,
And brighter than the moon.
He had come in the world,
That existed through Him;
For a plan unfurled,
With an outlook as grim.
Many did not realize,
Even with His own clan;
Thinking deceit and lies,
Not as the Son of man.
Though they did not accept,
He still gave them the right;
As the herald still prepped,
Others to see the light.
