Countless days and nights of battle
Soul fatigued, foundation rattled
To the point of no return
His final act death seared its burn
His last crusade fell shy near done
This last war fought but never won
Looking to sky eyes seeking rest
Time now draws near but also less
No more swords to swing away
Or battle Axe to shields this day
His life now breathes its final breath
The end is here acquaintance met
His love of life shall be no more
As far away standing at door
Is her alone with child to come
Unseen man child, first born a son
War ravaged the best of him
Countless deaths, his many sins
Will be no more as life now flees
The last of him, fallen but free
Vote for this poem
And in the end
