Punditry

It's a game of two halves
The TV pundit said
The team that scores most
Wins, and he nods his head.
Just one of the many banalities
So often today spoken
As with 24 hour news
Our language gets more broken.

And with all this time to to fill
The rise of the expert speaker
And the outlook for the language
Daily gets a little bleaker.
They mangle words and phrase
In  their newspeak and jargon
And I'm fast losing the will
To want to carry on.

Silence is said to be golden
So why can't the powers that be
In the interest of of the climate
And maybe my sanity
Halt the hot air and rubbish
That daily pours forth free
From that spectre in the corner
The language killer TV.
