Broken down from battles past
Wearing insignia and medals
awarded decades ago,
Hearing gone from mortar
and artillery barrages that
still flash before his eyes,
Reminiscing how his comrades died,
A tear forms in the corner of his eye,
Infantry man, foot soldier
And an airborne trooper,
Now, an unshaven, smelly
Bent back old man in a drunken stupor,
Trying to forget his murderous youth
As an amerikkkan airborne troope,
Airborne, All the way,
Hand extended as he ask a passer by
Any change for me today?
