Cosily cuddled together in our Inglenook

A wintry gale howls aloud outside in the all consuming darkness. Gone are the halcyon days of summer when the sun only slumbered for a few short hours before casting it warm rays again on our corner of the world. A crackling fire contained within the hearth attracts my loved one and I as we caress its warm and soporific spell. The logs releasing a susurrus whisper as its ethereal gasses ignite, casting shadows to dance on the wall of our unlit room. The electric power we take for granted has deserted us to fend for ourselves against the elements that attack our humble abode.
The room is cosy as we lie cuddled up in our sleeping bag, enjoying the warmth and comfort we give to each other. We talk idly at first, then remember how we treasured moments like these when we were young, sharing the simple pleasures in life. No noisy radio, no intrusive television, even our cell phones lie silent. This time and place is ours to share with each other leaving the rest of the world "out there"  My lovely partner no longer the ingénue that I found so pleasing , now a mature self confident woman in charge of her own destiny.
The warmth of the fire radiates over us, she is no longer the loquacious one letting her eyes convey what her heart feels. Tacit messages are conveyed as if once written down in a billet doux, we are at peace, we are as one.
Sleep envelops us as the niveous storm rages outside. The penumbra shadows on our wall dance as they look over us, the glowing embers fuel the fading light. We drift into a world of dream and fantasy as we cosily cuddle together in our inglenook.
