She waits By EDWIN FLORES, www.PoetryPoem.com/poetry2231 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
Time has been but hers to have
A place alone of things once had
A hand to hold, an ear to lend
Of love, of him of then and when
Far away too far to be
He she sees just barely
A glimpse of warmth that understands
Her heart that left with him, her man
She tightens grasp on locket held
That hangs from neck where feelings spell
Just how much she means to one
Love not there, wished for someone
His promise left its mark to hold
To stave off absence that unfolds
This day upon her hungry soul
A need to feed today takes toll
No one but him, no not for her
Though knocks upon her heart have stirred
A new beginning to make ends
A moment's peace, some time to spend
He left and won't be coming come
His call to duty will bring alone
To a new high beyond the depths
Of suffering, tears countless wept
His seed now grows inside her womb
A small version of his to bloom
To raise as best as she knows how
Till wait no more keeps her somehow
