 once upon a time

Have you ever envisaged the good that ten mullion pounds could do?
Did you ever think  that the government, her majesty’s government,
would and will, with great disdain for their voters bury it in  the ground

With double speak and great alleged regret they’ll state,
we need to honour the great protagonist against the welfare state.
We’ll talk after the event, after the ten million has been obscured by muck and pomposity
Have you a community that needs ten million pounds? Of course not!
All the cutbacks, all the depravity of twelve years of inhumanity
that bled out on the road from Finchley shall with the greatest affront to the nation
cost ten million pounds to conceal
but lets' talk and deny the fact of Clement Attlee-WHO,
the Labour leader who founded the welfare state
he was buried without any pomposity.

We will all watch aghast as ten million pounds get buried deep within the ground on the 17th of April 2013
the day that Maggie Thatcher was buried
