Broken Past

Ribbons around my heart.

I have these precious ribbons,
Tied firmly round my heart,
Locked together as a whole,
There is no ending nor a start.

Only I can see its beautiful shimmer,
Nobody can feel it but I,
It's a special kind of feeling,
That I carry deep inside.

I feel it in the morning,
I feel it in the afternoon,
I even feel it before I go to bed,
As it whispers "see you soon."

It is a unique emotion,
But it grows stronger everyday,
It echoes in the words I hear,
The words my child says.

When she says she loves me,
Then ties her arms around my waist,
The ribbons wrapped around my heart,
Grow more tighter in a loving sort of way.

Its a feeling felt across the globe,
By every loving caring mum,
But secretly just between you and me,
I know I am the luckiest one!
