First born son all that I am
I owe to her, her child turned man
The simple things she would teach me
I hold to now eternally

She was mother and father too
As I look back quickly I drew
Conclusions that today make sense
A product hers of recompense
Tribute mine to her who made
The best of me in heart I save
The best of her I would consume
To share in life as life made room
I miss her now more than before
Miss her smile in life she wore
The better part I need this day
The tell of tales of yesterdays
My sentiment was that of hers
Today clearly I will concur
That she was mine for a short time
Too short dear mom, once here shared mine
I drew my strength from you in life
A word or two shared under light
That knew your time was nearing end
Too much this truth of when now then
So hold I do to picture yours
Hold to thoughts inside me toured
As if you were still here this day
Saying you'll be now and always
And so I say to all of you
That still have mom to talk things through
Do so now as time will come
To end such days, daughters and sons
