Mother's Day Gift

No doubt those businesses would be smiling again
With such joy that they may find it very hard to contain
Knowing full well that many will find it had not to in some way honor
That very important person in their lives respectfully called mother

Even after birth when the umbilical cord got cut denoting independence
There was still the interdependence vital for sustenance for existence
And even though that virtual cord can have such universal extension
It seems that to mother there was always the mental adhesion

On that day as a toddler touching and getting that little burn
Who was by your side and on her face all the pain get shown
But to you that presence that loving touch brings healing and relief
One that makes you smile reveal those gum dotted with two little teeth

Those days when she ensures that you perform a chore
Watching your friend at play that moment was hard to endure
Now as you have grown that discipline had brought out that difference
Then you come to realize that it Is a mother you can see such a distance

Now as time has passed depicted by her hair showing silver
There are also those tell tale signs of those punches life gave her
But she absorbs the counter them and eventually come out the winner
How with teary eyes your reminisce her show of strength and character

In the moment you got trapped between buying her roses of an expensive present
But Alas! What can you buy her that no matter what will still be deficient?
Then in the moment those eyes sparkle as that mental clock began to chime
Revealing that the greatest gift there is would be to give her some moment of your time.
