We wear our poppies on our left side,
Covering our hearts; it's worn with pride,
For the hero's we admire and for who we respect,
Proving that over the years we'll never forget.
Those who have fallen and those who still fight,
Protecting us all; doing what's right,
Their uniform is their trademark; their medals are too,
Honoring their country as real hero's do.
They spend many hours away from their families and friends,
Unsure as to when their war will end,
Sometimes their story has a sad closure,
That's the chances you take on becoming a soldier.
It takes someone strong and brave to fight for the weak,
Protecting those who sometimes have no nice words to speak,
They hold no grudges; just keep marching on,
Until their battle for freedom has finally been won.
So we should all take a moment to remember our men,
For we owe more than a minutes silence to them,
We should respect and admire those at war,
And be thankful it's our future they are fighting for.
