No Absenteeism
During those days of slavery and written in the pages of history
Many of those plantations had owners who lived in absentee
Hoping that the wealth derived from those sugar crop sales
Would be good enough to tip their balance on the social status scales
But this only presented not in any way brought any improvement to them
As they were not in any welcome or embraced into that aristocratic system
Because this new found wealth certainly carried neither weight nor clout
To be able to enter that group it was sanguineous as the one and only route
Just as it did then it seems that this system even now pose a problem
And one cannot be a dad using that method of absenteeism
Yes they may be wealth around to buy and provide those presents
But they well convey little significance if you continue to keep that distance
Yes provide is one side and may have some form of benefit
But it will bring more joy if you were there in both body and spirit
Because being there brings out more because you made the time
A thing that will always make a lasting impression on that little mind
What joy it would be and at the same time makes someone feels so proud
To see that familiar face of your dad cheering so happily for you in the crowd
Being there present and active showing that purpose with that support
And giving that hug when there is that lost which will bring on some hurt
So men when that moment comes for fatherhood prepare and stay
This job can be performed in absentia or by remote control in any way
Take that time out to be that beacon to illuminate and guide
And too be always thoughtful, fair in whatever you decide
