Father's Day

Stand up and be counted all you devoted fathers
Let that feeling of pride made the body have tremors
As you reminisce about those moments of dutiful test
Having endured those you can now put them to rest

Feeling good now that you were there and persevere
Remembering how the news of fatherhood brought on both a cheer and fear
Not know then what should be done and there was also not preparation
Least of all most certainly not for the welfare of such a young one

But how you heart beat so quickly when you realize
On looking down you were gazing such expectant eyes
Looking at each other vision locked they for a little while
How you felt so enchanted and returned that loving smile

Causing you to bend over and with those arms so strong
Lifting the little bundle and instantly there was a bond
So strong that at night would tip toe to make that last peep
Just to take that long last look to make sure that there is sleep

How quickly time and years certainly on the clock did fly
And before you know it there is an adult looking into your eye
Seeking that grow in stature as well as intellectual development
Now make you feel proud that you have made that emotional investment

There may not be dad who would be as successful as you
But they most definitely did they utmost too
So whether it went well or not you were there giving that hand
Here is the best of wishes to all you fathers on your day in all the land
