Chapel Times

It was the very late 1940's
Not sure of the year
When on Crofties Farm
A white caravan appeared.

Deaconesses of the Chapel,
Never before by me seen,
Missionaries to the village
Sisters Joan and Eileen.
Young and full of vigour
Come all the way from Hull
And for the next two weeks both
Sunday School and Chapel were full.

We learned and sang songs,
Chanted Biblical rhymes;
It's great looking back
On those distant times.
Then the caravan went
Much to our relief,
And we could slip back
To a less demanding belief.

It's just come back to me
After all those past years,
Near forgotten memories
Now bright and crystal clear.
