as he lays his life on the line for you
just as Jesus did in sacrificing His life too...

Far away from home in a foreign land
separated from his loved ones
fighting for freedom of fellow man
~ ~ ~ *** ~ ~ ~
He sacrifices the trials of sorrow
by laying his life on line
truly believing in a freer tomorrow...

He deserves the deepest respect from all
with the sharpest salute of gratitude
answering with dedication freedom's call...

The American Soldier, how tough he must be
As he sacrifices his life for you and for me,
In fighting for freedom for family and friends
So we will have peace when the fighting ends..
The American Soldier, a great heart has he
Leaving his loved ones when he goes over the sea,
Never knowing if he will ever see them once more
As he embarks forward to some strange shore..
The American Soldier, has compassion and is kind
In losing a comrade or a body that's maligned,
He'll place him in harms way when the chips are down
In protecting the innocent from falling to the ground..
THE AMERICAN SOLDIER , IS TRUSTWORTHY AND PROUD
SHARP AS A TACK AS HE STANDS OUT ALONE OR IN A CROWD,
HIS CRY IS HEARD ABOVE ALL THAT AMERICA STANDS FOR
AS HE PLEDGES TO PROTECT AMERICA FROM SHORE TO SHORE..
