Poetic Verses
That Man
Yes once again another day for fathers is here
Those merchants will be anticipated sales and for them prepare
For those large shopping potential that comes with the moment
As the children would be meticulously shopping for a fitting present
As of course there will be children of various ages and ranges
And so too there will be dad who would be at different stages
Some may appreciate a gift other may want now some quality time
Having that conversation to most certainly stimulate the mind
There are those who are very up to date with the politics and history
Believe me too some can spring surprise about the changing technology
But wouldn't it too be a good thing to down the road of memory?
And recap some of those moments that shared and quite happily
Remembering that day your intended surprise as you take off in delight
In riding swiftly down the drive way on your brand new bike
How he took off beating the record of any Olympic champion
To save you from going into the busy street as the gate was open
There was that moment where something happened that made you glad
It was on that day when at school when you all were to bring along dad
How you all as children got a surprise that remained up to this day
When you realized too that all you dads were friends even though their lives went a different way
And as you grow you now appreciate and understand
The ways and teaching of this favorite man
Proving himself to a compass and that road map
To assist you as you took on life's uncertain lap
Now as employment take you over waters away from home
Being now faced with situation different from those accustomed
How you were able to cope because of that firm foundation
Laid down because of those teachings of that special person
As you see those around you begin to crumble and fall
How often then you are able to assist when they call
Many seem not to understand how you seem so decisive in the matter
Then you take time to tell them you were rounded off by a father
