Before today the rain would fall
Upon shoulders as if to call
Attention to a change this day
A blessing birthed to wash away
The needs that fell from heavens sky
Became deluge on soul applied
To clear thoughts that reigned within
A parched being of many sins
Downpour came to cleanse the mind
The negative of what was mine
The very things that gave nothing
To be of use, to make of something
Here these drops that rained upon
A face where smiles were long but gone
Became again the need to feel
Alive now drenched with longed appeal
Hydration sunk into dry pores
Of emptiness and too before
As path where sands became now land
And rock appeared to make my stand
Here this day the rain will come
Again, someplace where there is none
To drink of it and rise above
Your state this day, be thankful of
After the rain
