Leaving

I'm leaving you all” she said
And in the gathering dusk a tear fell.
I reached out for her hand
But a shadow fell between us;
I could not see the face I loved-
Then it was over for a while.
Rainy evenings staring from my window,
Listening to the traffic in the distance-
Don't forget to lock the door,
No one to remind me anymore.
Over the moors it is as quiet as ever,
Nothing has changed there at all-
For a while I imagine you still with me,
But once home I feel just emptiness,
Writing poetry hoping to fill a void.
I will see you again one day I know,
Time is moving on, days are passing by,
Memories may fade but love does not.
